What is dispersion and why is it a problem?

Ever wondered what happens to the smoke from bushfires?

🌬️ What about the mechanics behind how smoke is able to travel hundreds of kilometers?

SUCE is proud to announce the final event of our Academic Seminar PEP Package, with Dr. Kapil Chauhan, presenting 'Dispersion in the urban environment'.

🧑‍ In this seminar, students will be introduced to the problem of dispersion. A well-known example in Australia is the smoke from bushfires travelling hundreds of kilometers. This seminar will explain why dispersion is a significant problem and the associated challenges. We will then look at current engineering practices and some of the future opportunities in this field of civil engineering.

In this video we take a look at how vibrating systems can be modelled, starting with the lumped parameter approach and single degree of freedom models. We then go on to look at damping, the dissipation of energy that occurs in all real systems, as well as forced vibration, resonance and multiple degree of freedom models
TL;DR:
